The Breather

One Device with Many Therapiesbreather1

Developed by Peggy Nicholson, MPH, RRT

The Breather will save you therapeutic time with today's stressful schedules. This is a handy, pocket-sized portable device that, with a few minute regime per day, can improve many of the muscles that assist in swallowing.

Many diseases and conditions affect upper airway function. Since treatment depends upon the severity of symptoms, some goals may include improving breath support and muscle strengthening exercises to help with dysarthria or dysphagia. Resistive breathing training can enhance voice and swallowing function because of improved airflow in and out of the lungs.
